The other day, I was contacted by the company called "Digiarty" to review an application that they developed called 'MacX Video Converter Pro", and give my honest opinion. When I launched the application, I felt right at home since all of the menus were very user friendly. You can check out my full review in the video above. Jailbreak - Jailbreaking is the name given to the process used to modify the operating system running on an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad to allow the user greater control over their device, including the ability to remove Apple-imposed restrictions and install apps obtained and other content through means other than the official App Store (among the most prevalent of these alternative sources is Cydia). After the release of iOS 7.1.1, Apple released a lot of different security patches, making it difficult for people to Jailbreak any iOS device running the latest firmware. Today, a Chinese Developer released a tool called 'PanGu' which is the very first jailbreak for iOS 7.1.1 devices.
At the moment, this tool is only available for Windows (with Mac support coming soon). You can download the tool here. Update: The Jailbreaking Tool, is now available for Mac as of June 29th, 2014. Yesterday during the annual Developers Conference (also known as "WWDC"), Apple released 2 very significant updates to both of their operating systems (iOS and OS X) with the release of two very brand new updates for them (OS X Yosemite and iOS 8). 2014, was definitely the year for Macs with the new release, giving the operating system a brand new design that more resembles iOS 7's interface. A simple aesthetic change isn't the only the only thing apple added to the operating system. You can now, use AirDrop with iOS devices from your mac and vice versa. This allows people to easily transfer files to other people or to themselves easily, over Wi-Fi connection. Some features that were in iOS 7 are also being added into the Macs new operating system, such as the Today-View for notification center, giving you up to date information when you need it (Reminders, Calendar Events, Weather Reports, etc). With the addition of the Today-View for notification center, Apple has also announced app store widgets for notification center, allowing you to have a specific panel dedicated to widgets for your notification center so you can stay up to date about your favorite teams scores and your Ebay bids.
Those are just a few of the things that Apple announced at yesterdays WWDC Conference. If you would like to watch the full 2 our stream of the conference then click here In this video, I show you how to password protect (encrypt) folders on your Mac, to keep others from being able to see what is inside them. This is really useful if you have really personal files on your Mac, and other people may need to use your computer.
Keep in mind that you may not be able to edit the contents of the folder once it has been encrypted, so make sure you add everything you need to before doing this. |
